LISTEN | NO LIMITS - BODY FULL OF LIGHTNING
Young Akron Ohio, based duo, No Limits just released their newest song ‘Body Full Of Lightning‘. No Limits is known for seamlessly blending genres and crossing into completely untouched musical territory and this song is no exception. Their constant powerful vocals and magical guitar riffs bring their songs together into one dreamlike universe. The boys tag this song with the words “face your fears, live your dream” which is the exact message that they want to portray to their listeners. Awesome, genre-defying track here that really brings together the best of both indie and electronic music. Enjoy!

NEWS | EDM SHOWS BANNED FROM CONGRESS THEATER
DNAinfo.com reports that an agreement signed by the City of Chicago liquor commissioner and the current owner of the venue Eddie Carranza that will ban all “EDM” events from the Congress Theater. According to DNAinfo the city is loosely defined EDM as “music created by a DJ or multiple DJs primarily using specialized equipment and software instead of traditional instruments”.
Over the years Congress Theater has been a go to for a lot of artists but not all of them will have to say goodbye to this legendary venue. After looking deeper into this agreement there seems to be a loop-hole of sorts that will allow performances with live instruments to continue to be booked at Congress. Presumably that means artists like Big Gigantic, Keys N Krates, and many others can still keep the Congress on their radar by incorporating live instruments and vocals to meet the agreement. According to the agreement…
“… And an EDM performance shall be defined as a performance of Electronic Dance Music or any performance by a DJ or multiple DJs featured the playing of prerecorded music. Performers that incorporate electronic beats or prerecorded music in their acts shall be allowed, provided those performers either sing vocals or play an instrument(s) (or do both) during their performance.”

LISTEN | KSTYLIS – TRAMPOLINE BOOTY (AYLEN REMIX)
You may or may not have heard of this New Jersey based producer who is fresh up on the scene. He goes by the name Aylen and has created a totally trapped out remix of Kstylis’“Trampoline Booty”. This could be another name you might not too familiar with, but should definitely get to know. Only about a day after he put up Aylen’s remix of his “Trampoline Booty”, Kstylis’ “6th Gear” collab with Diplo hit the scene hard as it was released on to Mad Decent’s Soundcloud, so you know the dude has got some raw talent. Diplo doesn’t mess around when it comes to his label, even more so if it is a collaboration with the man himself.

Aylen’s remix of Kstylis’ “Trampoline Booty” completely revamps the original song with some smooth synths and an absolute tenacious bassline making this a jam that just calls for massive booty twerking.
Both Kstylis and Aylen have bright futures in this everchanging world of producing, and I’m excited to see where their talents take them. Check it out and cop it as a Free Download if you’re diggin’ it.

LISTEN | ZEDS DEAD x MEMORECKS - LOVE ME
Hooks & DC of Zeds Dead have been killing their shows around the country so far this summer after coming off their EP release Somewhere Else. The Canadian bass duo collaborated with lots of dope artists on tracks throughout the EP. One of which is a fellow bud from Toronto by the name of Memorecks who teamed up with Zeds Dead on“Collapse” which is one of the true gems in Somewhere Else. If you’ve seen Hooks & DC live this summer, they have been enjoying closing out many of their sets with this hot tune.
But “Collapse” is actually not the first time Zeds Dead has collaborated with Memorecks. Earlier today, Zeds Dead took to their Facebook page to share with their fans an unreleased tune they made with Memorecks a couple years back entitled “Love Me”. The track first debuted on Zeds Dead BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix but was never official released. Today, we are blessed by the bass gods. “Love Me” is a super slow and chill track with that classic Zeds Dead crackling bass sound, we all love. Vibe to this chill ass low bass tune that just proves yet again that Zeds Dead & Memorecks are pure gold together.

NEWS | FACEBOOK BANS ‘LIKE TO DOWNLOAD’
Every day it seems Facebook is finding new ways to force artists to fork over money left and right in order increase their fan-base on it’s platform. In their latest addition to the social network, Facebook is banning the last feature new artists have in order to boost their notability free of charge. ‘Like To Download’ allowed artists who have little-to-no marketing budget to bring attention to their pages by offering free music to fans with simply a ‘Like’ of their page. Facebook’s decision to ban like-gate apps by November 5th will exclude ‘Like To Download’ from the site.
It seems this is another tactic by Facebook in order to generate more money on a platform that should be otherwise free to users world-wide. The remaining option for artists is to ‘boost’ their posts and pay for ads, a feature which generates billions of dollars and disaffects millions of producers, labels, and brands. In a statement from Facebook below, their claim is that they are genuinely concerned for the community, but in actuality it seems they are more concerned with shareholders and personal profit.
You must not incentivize people to use social plugins or to like a Page. This includes offering rewards, or gating apps or app content based on whether or not a person has liked a Page. It remains acceptable to incentivize people to login to your app, checkin [sic] at a place or enter a promotion on your app’s Page. To ensure quality connections and help businesses reach the people who matter to them, we want people to like Pages because they want to connect and hear from the business, not because of artificial incentives. We believe this update will benefit people and advertisers alike.
The ‘Like To Download’ option does not seems like an “artificial incentive,” but instead a statistical way to quantify how well an artist is doing in their quest to popularize their name. In the world of free music in which we live in, statistics are incredibly valuable and sites such as Facebook and Soundcloud are of the utmost importance for artists to generate a fan-base. Unfortunately, this is now becoming harder and harder for producers achieve and even more so with Soundcloud allowing Universal Music Group to practically do whatever the hell they want.
The bottom line is Facebook is doing this for more money. In our capitalist society, we’re encouraged to make money any way we can, but when your policies make it detrimental for a large part of your user-base you should recognize it will only hurt you in the long run. The are no more 100% reliable ‘charts’ anymore, Beatport has shown it’s flaws allowing for artists to work their way up the rankings artificially and iTunes is unable to correctly categorize a song. Artists need something and Facebook’s ‘Like To Download’ proved to be one of the last bastions of hope for emerging artists to spread music free of charge to their fans while receiving little compensation.

LISTEN | WILSEN – MAGNOLIA (REVOKE REMIX)
After a truly remarkable and successful collaboration with fellow Sweet Shop Records founding duo Candyland on the Adventure Club “Gold” Remix, REVOKE is back with another stellar remix. This time, the Southern California based producer taking the initiative to throw his remixing capabilities onto Wilsen’s “Magnolia”. This super fresh and divergent spin that REVOKE creates on this original is an area that we have yet seen to be explored by him. This track has evident influences from sub genres such as electro, dnb, dubstep and probably most evident, melodic trap. But it’s not really one or the other, more like a futuristic experimental bass track that’s just a little ahead of it’s time, breaking down barriers and moving more towards melody.
The tune really is something to hear for yourself, there’s not too many tracks out there that sound the way this one does. It exerts a chill and relaxing vibe while still bringing a great deal of energy that you can turn up to. Also, you can hear that REVOKE samples the hip-hop track “Im On One” from Drake (most clearly heard at the 4:20 mark) which I thoroughly enjoy! We are really excited to hear what else REVOKE has in store for us in the near future considering his incredible style and the release of three fantastic remixes all within a month including this one, his “Gold” remix and his Cash Cash “Take Me Home” Remix. So we will be sure to keep you updated on more from REVOKE Until then, check him out and ENJOY!

LISTEN | MONSTERCAT 018 - FRONTIER
Last May we covered Monstercat‘s enormous 017 compilation ‘Ascension’ and once again the Vancouver label captivates with their newest release ‘Frontier’ featuring 30 heavy hitting tracks and 2 continuous mixes, “Pinnacle” and “Horizon.” With Monstercat’s rise in prominence, the reaction of more far-reaching presence amongst fans, artists, and music industry members always looms present. Although this growth can often mean a change in business models, Monstercat continues to remain a business that places principle over dollar signs.
Along with the release of Monstercat 018 Frontier, the label has issued a manifesto concerning creative freedom and a statement towards how they feel is one of the most integral ways we should grow as a whole in the music industry. It’s about time labels speak out on antiquated copyright laws and voice their opinion on the entitlement corporations possess in an industry where the focus should be on artists and fans rather than solely on financial gain.
Monstercat 018 – Frontier is available now and features some tracks we’ve covered in the past including Grabbitz‘s “Here With You Now” and Astronaut‘s “Champions” featuring Harry Brooks Jnr.

Splitbreed Teams Up With Varien For “Freakshow”
Splitbreed, the LA based hip-hop and dance music infused trio are cooking up for their Mile High Club LP and have released their new single “Freakshow” which features the very talent producer, Varien.
With the preparation for the new upcoming album, Splitbreed continues to blend the definitions of genres between dance music genres and hip-hop. With “Freakshow” Varien has produced a really dope new take on the trap side of things and added influences of futuristic bass to catapult the track forward. Not only is Splitbreed working out their own album but also, as well making plans to launch their own imprint record label Skyfall which will host the new album’s release.
This beat is too sick, and goes way too well with the rap lyrics from Splitbreed. This tune sure is turning heads right now and is only just a small taste of what we can expect from the forthcoming “Mile High Club” LP. Expect “Freakshow” to hit clubs all around the country, and most likely played by some of your favorite trap artists. Grab this track for FREE, party to it, twerk to it, get freaky to it, enjoy it. Thanks Monstercat

He blends elements of festival trap, electro and big room house to completely flip the original upside down ready to shut down the most intense clubs and festivals across the globe.
